Grubs and fungus are very damaging to a lawn and can spread quickly.
Grubs are an insect that come from June bug larva. The June bug lays their eggs in the lawns because the roots are easily accessible, the eggs hatch and that's when the damage begins. They eat the closest roots to them which kills the lawn above. Tell tale signs are grass
that's easy to lift from the ground. The grass will begin to lay down and turn yellowish brown.
Fungus in the lawns will typically turn the grass lime green and if left untreated will grow mushrooms. As the fungus grows it will start dehydrating and starving the lawn of water and nutrients in the soil. Similar to grubs, the lawn will change color to a yellowish brown and will die if left untreated.
The wood burrowing beetle, ants and worms are the most common insects in Utah that target many types of trees. If left untreated they can spread and kill trees in the area. Worms will target your fruit and greatly reduce a harvest. Ants will burrow under tree bark and eat away the veins of the tree.
Gardens are always a concern for insects. Everyone including pests enjoy a good veggie! Letting insects infest a garden can kill the plants as well as stunt and damage the fruit and veggies the plant is trying to produce.
A well established Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program is important to eliminate and prevent diseases from harming and killing your hard work!
